Electronic Travel Authorisation is must when you are visiting Sri Lanka and it is advised to  take authorizations before a week from your expected date of arrival.

From the airport to the hotel, the best option is hiring an UBER taxi. You can book an UBER through the mobile app. If not, there are many taxi agents at the arrival launch. The next option is to use Public transportation, there is an Intercity Bus service to Colombo main bus stand. From there, you can use TUK TUK which is a three-wheeled vehicle operating in Sri Lanka for short distance traveling.

When you are touring, you can use public transportation, but it is too crowded and noisy yet, good for short-run experience. There are motorcycles and scooters for rent.

Trains are available in some areas and must travel by train in a hill country which is a tourist attraction.

Still recommend going with a tourist chauffeur through a travel agent for a hassle-free journey with all the advice and directions.

Yes. When you are traveling to religious sites, make sure that you choose outfits covering your shoulders and long enough till below knee. Also, remove shoes before entering the site. Because of religious culture, please do not turn your back to Lord Buddha statues even for photos.
