Sightseeing Highlights:
Pick up guests from venue and travel along the Galle Face promenade which is a five
hectare ocean-side urban park, stretching half a kilometre along the coast, with cannons of
World War II, view the South Expansion of the Colombo Harbor, travel along Chaithya Road
to view the Colombo Lighthouse, opened in 1952 by the first Prime Minister of Ceylon Rt.
Hon. D. S. Senanayake. Pass Kingsbury hotel, the former Ceylon Continental, the first five
star hotel in the island.
Prison cell of last Sri Lankan king Old Colombo lighthouse & clock tower
View the Old light house & clock Tower, the Victorian
landmark designed by Lady Ward built two years prior to the
Big Ben of Westminster, London and the Prison Cell of the last
Sri Lankan King. Pass Old Dutch Hospital which is considered
to be the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area dating back
to the Dutch colonial era and travel along York Street which
displays the remnants of British Colonial Architecture,
overlooking the harbor area. Pass the Khan clock tower,
return passing the Cargills & Millers and the Caves Buildings.

York Street Hindu Temple
Pass Lake House complex & Air Force Headquarters. View the famous Hindu Kovil with a
uniquely carved gopuram, pass the Slave Island area. Arrive to view the scenic Beira Lake in
the heart of the city.
Gangarama Chapter House National Museum
Stop at the Gangarama Seemamalakaya, Chapter House / Temple, (20 minutes) a beautiful
part of the Buddhist temple situated across the road in the middle of the Beira Lake. The
‘Seema Malakaya’ or the Chapter House was designed by the famous Sri Lankan Architect
Geoffrey Bawa who also designed the new Parliament Complex of Sri Lanka.
Pass the War Memorial, Public Library, National Museum, Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Vihara
Mahadevi Park have a stop and photo opportunity at the Colombo Town Hall.
Colombo Town Hall Independence Memorial
Travel along Independence Avenue. Stop at the Independence Memorial (Approximately 15
– 20 minutes) also visit the Arcade Independence Square, originally an asylum, now
converted to a beautiful shopping precinct and a public gathering space in the city.
Travel along Bauddhaloka Mawatha to view the Bandaranaike Memorial International
Conference Hall (BMICH) and the replica of the Aukana Buddha Statue. Return to travel
along Maitland Place passing Cricket Board. Pass Race Course, a harness racing course in
Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, which was used as a temporary airfield during the Second
World War.
Racecourse Shopping
Stop at Laksala, the State owned Handicrafts Emporium for shopping for souvenirs and
other traditional art and crafts from Sri Lanka.

Built for the commemoration for Independence of Sri Lanka, this is situated in Cinnamon Gardens, in the heart of the city which you can visit during your city tour. Morning and evenings, you can see the locals come here for jog and bit of exercising.
