As per the available information, Dutch Hospital is the oldest building in Colombo. It was built in 1681 has the Dutch hospital to serve the officers and other staff working for Dutch East India Company in Sri Lanka. Long story short, in 1815 King Sri Wikckrama Rajasinghe the las king, was captured by the British rulers and celled here prior to transporting him to India. The British kept the king in this small cell separately to prevent rebellion. You can find pictures of the King with the queen if you peek through bars of the cell.
