This is an ancient allegedly planted by Arab Traders and believed to be over 700 years old. The local community around the area is called this tree as an elephant tree since it is tough and gnarled resembles the skin of an elephant. Also, it is called upside-down tree due its branches are looking alike routs.

Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu is a 400 years old church considered as the holiest catholic church on the Island. This church is just over 300 kilometers away from Colombo and just 2 hours journey from Anuradhapura. It is a journey via beautiful flat roads in the northern province.
